Day 1 - Saturday - Diani to Tiwi

We will depart from Diani at 9.00 a.m., and head to Kaya Kinondo Sacred Forest.  We will depart from Diani at 9.00 a.m., and head to Kaya Kinondo for a visit to the Sacred Forest of the local Digo tribe; on our nature walk in the forest our local guide, will inform us about the indigenous trees and plants, including the uses for traditional medicine. After a traditional Swahili lunch we do a quick shop before heading up the beautiful Kenyan Coast to Tiwi Beach where we camp on the beach for two nights. (L, D)

Day 2 - Sunday - Tiwi Beach

Today is a free day on Tiwi Beach for beach games, swimming and relaxing on this pristine palm fringed Indian Ocean Beach. Tonight we enjoy a sumptuous Seafood Braai. (B, L, D)

Day 3 - Monday - Tiwi to Shimba Hills National Reserve

After breakfast we will drive up to Shimba Hills National Reserve and enjoy a game drive in the park before having lunch. After lunch head to Elephant Lookout where mid afternoon you will go on a hike with a Ranger down to the beautiful Sheldrick Falls and relax beside the coolness of the waterfall. We will game drive to our campsite which is located inside the reserve, with stunning views. (B, L, D)

Day 4 - Tuesday - Shimba Hills to Mombasa

Early morning is the best time to go on a game drive in search of the rare Sable Antelope, Elephants, Buffalo, Giraffes, Impala and Leopards. We return to camp for brunch, pack up and depart from the park. We then drive to Likoni and cross on the ferry to Mombasa Island. We spend the remainder of the afternoon by the pool at the Backpackers. (B/L, D)

Day 5 - Wednesday - Mombasa

This morning is a Guided City Tour of Mombasa including entrance into historic Fort Jesus, exploring Mombasa Old Town on foot and a traditional Swahili lunch. In the afternoon you are free to explore Mombasa. (B, L, D)

Day 6 - Thursday - Mombasa to Mida Creek

Today we head north up the coast to the beautiful Watamu/Mida Creek area. We will visit the famous Gede Ruins one of the principal historic national monuments in Kenya. Our campsite is located near Mida Creek. (B, L, D)

Day 7 - Friday - Watamu/Mida Creek

After breakfast you will head out on a full day excursion with a local fisherman. Time stands still as you drift out in a dugout canoe into the creek and casually fish with an experienced fisherman using various traditional techniques. This is a great way to explore the creek and the mangrove channels. You will enjoy a hearty fisherman's lunch. (B, L, D)

Day 8 - Saturday - Watamu

After breakfast it is time to go on a tour of the village and learn about the Giriama lifestyle. An informative experience which will give you the chance to have one on one encounters with locals, eat at the local œuteli and then try fresh mnazi (coconut-wine) tapped from the palm tree. This is an unforgettable cultural encounter. The afternoon is free to spend relaxing before our last Braai followed by traditional Giriama Drumming and Dancing and a roaring campfire under the stars. Day 9 - Sunday - Watamu to Diani

After breakfast we pack up camp and head back down to Mombasa, where we will stop for some traditional Kenyan Nyama Choma (roast meat) before we cross back to the South Coast on the ferry and arrive back in Diani late afternoon. (B, L)
