“Our safari adventure was perfectly tailor-made to our wishes of having the safari experience and getting a taste of the real Africa. We couldn't have asked for a more dedicated and thoughtful service from Safari Joe. Their attention to detail was fantastic, as was their knowledge of Kenyan wildlife, which was certainly out to the test by our inquisitive son, Charlie.
We crammed an enormous amount into our two week stay, but wished we could have stayed longer. Our cycle safari through Hells Gate National Park was completely amazing, and seeing the sunrise in the Masai Mara was awesome. Camping next to hippos was a first for us, as was chilling in our beach front chalet on the Indian Ocean! So many amazing memories!
Steph and Tony provided us with wonderful food for the entire trip and the most excellent company. We dearly hope we can go back again for a new adventure with them and Safari Joe. We can't recommend them highly enough. Totally brilliant!!”

“Have you ever dreamt of experiencing a safari in Africa, but thought you could never afford it? WELL YES YOU CAN! I would thoroughly recommend Safari Joe (a family run business - husband and wife) who specialise in tailor-made safari holidays, both to suit your pocket and requirements.
Tony, a Kenyan, is the driver, mechanic, guide, etc., who has travelled many, many miles both in and around Africa and knows the country so well.
Stephi, his wife, a lovely bubbly English woman, met and married Tony whilst working as a tour guide for another safari company. She too has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience over many years. Lay back, relax and enjoy the many sights and sounds that Africa has to offer, whilst Tony and Steph cook yet another delicious meal over the camp fire. This really is camping at its best. After dinner, most evenings are spent around the campfire, chewing the cud, having a "Tusker" or two; many laughs and listening to the call of the wild - during the hours of darkness the game is at its most active and the sounds of the surrounding wildlife can be heard throughout the night. It's actually sad when everyone has to go to bed!
Stephi and Tony pay full attention to every detail, whether large or small. Imagine a young girls surprise and delight, to wake up in the Masai Mara, just as the sun is beginning to rise on her 17th birthday to be presented with a delicious full English breakfast and her fellow passengers toasting
her with "Bucks Fizz". How awesome is that? I doubt she will ever forget her 17th birthday.
Tony and Steph are walking encyclopaedias with a vast wealth of knowledge of animals and the culture of where they take you to.
A boat ride across Lake Naivasha, photographing the many hippos lurking beneath the water, and our arrival at Elsamere (the former home of the late Joy Adamson of "Born Free" fame) was yet another unforgettable experience along with the scrumptious afternoon tea. I could have sat for hours just watching the Colobus Monkeys cavorting from one acacia tree to another. Imagine seeing the Masai herdsmen grazing their cattle in the Masai Mara, dressed in their red blankets and ornate beads and visiting an elephant orphanage. What wonderful memories. Last but by no means least; spending the last few days on the south coast of Mombasa, Diani Beach in a simple beach front cottage, swimming in the warmth of the Indian Ocean with its palm fringed beaches and taking a trip
in a dhow. So many delights - too numerous to mention – ‘YES GO ON TREAT YOURSELF’ you will not be disappointed. Want to know more? Please contact Steph at Safari Joe.
However, be warned, I believe Stephi goes to sleep with a smile on her face. Everyone who meets her - adores her. I am eagerly awaiting my third Safari. Once again, many thanks for everything!”

“Just like to say a big thank you to Tony, Steph and Joseph from Safari Joe on their amazing trip to Uganda in the summer of 2013 where I helped on a community project, helping to construct a classroom in a school in a remote village in Budadiri. From start to finish I was looked after very well, the trucks were great, they had everything we needed for the trip. They cooked most nights under the stars, which was chilled and fun ....their knowledge of the country was very good. We stopped along the way ‘keeping it local’ as we say in England buying fruits n veggies for the day ahead. My whole experience was very special and will never forget this holiday & amazing countryside. Uganda is a very special place with special people and I am now thinking of doing another trip with Safari Joe.”

“Thank you Steph and Tony for a wonderful week-long tour of Nairobi...I can’t believe how much we did in that time! I experienced and saw so much on my individual tour with Safari Joe and you two are both so knowledgeable and enthusiastic!
I visited a local market; experienced all the sights, colours and traditional foods, haggled for goods and chatted with stall holders, an experience I wouldn't have got anywhere else.
We did a walking tour of Nairobi city centre and I was thrilled to see the Kenyan President and Prime Minister which was amazing!
Nairobi National Park was fantastic; so near to the city and so much wildlife including lions snoozing, buffalo munching, giraffe teenagers asserting themselves and my favourites, the zebras peacefully grazing, what a wonderful day!
I definitely saw things that the average tourist wouldn't have seen and I can't thank you enough.... and I can't wait to come back so you can show me more!”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our amazing 3 week Kenya/Tanzania safari and would recommend to anyone wishing to visit East Africa. We were collected from the airport and fully escorted throughout our holiday, which meant we could relax and did not have to worry about anything. We love being outdoors and were most impressed by the range of accommodation that we had booked for us:
- Quiet City Hotel in Nairobi
- Basic Camping under canvas amongst the wildlife
- Luxury Camping complete with bed and ensuite bathroom
- Tree House on a dairy farm
- Log Cabin in the foothills of Mt Kenya
- Stylish Bed & Breakfast in Arusha
- Small Guesthouse in Marangu (foothills of Kilimanjaro)
- Farmhouse Cottage in Lushoto
- Beach Cottage next to the Ocean in Dar Es Salaam
- Double Room in Historic Stone Town
- Air Conditioned Beach Hut on Zanzibar Beach
The highlights throughout our journey were too many to mention but these are the ones that we really enjoyed:
- Carnivores Restaurant in Nairobi
- Great Rift Valley and crossing the Equator
- Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru National Park
- The Masai Mara
- Seeing Mt Kenya and Mt Kilimanjaro
- Passing the Sisal, Tea and Coffee plantations
- The Usambara Mountains
- Zanzibar, Stone Town, Spice Tour and the beaches
- Meeting the local people
- Visiting the markets
The food was fabulous and we were spoilt with barbeques, dinners cooked over the campfire, sampling the local cuisine, enjoying the night fish markets in Stone. Town, meals overlooking the Indian Ocean and the cheese and wine for sundowners.
Thank you Tony for the many miles of safe driving and Steph for the delicious dinners too!
The safari for us was a once in a lifetime holiday and we highly recommend Safari Joe to anyone wishing to visit East Africa.”
